Hello Van Buren Families!

I am honored to be a part of such an amazing community of professionals, families, and learners! Our “exceeding expectations” school report card represents our students’ personalized, engaged learning journey. Van Buren students leave here with the life skills, confidence, and motivation to take risks, advocate for themselves, problem solve, and always give 100% effort to be their very best.

This is my 31st year working in education for the School District of Janesville and my 16th year as the Principal of Van Buren.  I believe when children feel safe, valued, and supported, they will achieve greatness. 

At Van Buren, we focus on building relationships by getting to know each and every child who walks through our doors.  

By finding what students are interested in and what motivates them, helping them to recognize how they learn best, and allowing them to have a voice and choice in their learning, our students feel a part of the educational process.

I grew up in the state line area, graduated from Hononegah High School, received my bachelor's degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL, and completed my master's degree in Educational Administration from UW-Madison.

My family resides in Janesville. I have 3 amazing children: Baleigh, who is a 1st-grade teacher in the district, Sydney, who recently graduated from Arizona State University and lives in Phoenix, and Jaxon, a Junior at UW-Platteville. 

And, I can’t forget my spunky chocolate lab, Ruby, and silver lab pup, Rex! As a family, we enjoy sports, movies, boating, gardening, and vacationing on the ocean

As we navigate through the school year at Van Buren together, I’m energized watching learners excited to come to school and celebrate as they reach their goals!  I’m fortunate to work with families who are part of our team, helping their child grow and succeed. I look forward to supporting our VB team as we continue to engage learners, grow leaders, and create an all-inclusive community!
